In Vienna, as of today, Wednesday, the Viennese special regulations regarding Corona measures are history. The regulation, valid until the end of February, was not extended. Thus, there is no longer a mask obligation in public transport and pharmacies. Also, the PCR test obligation for visitors in hospitals and nursing homes is cancelled, and the visitor limit of three persons per day is abolished.
Public transport users in Vienna will also notice another change: parallel to the end of the mask obligation; Wiener Linien will reopen the front doors in buses and older streetcars in which the driver’s cabin is not closed, starting today. The doors had been locked at the pandemic’s beginning to protect drivers from infection.
As a measure, masks will remain mandatory in vulnerable areas such as hospitals or nursing homes until April 30. However, this is a federal regulation and applies throughout Austria. The federal government most recently announced an end to the Corona regulations by June 30.
